Prices and validity periods
Prices depend on providers
In Austria, the vignette regulations are divided into two categories. All vehicles with a permissible total weight of 3.5 tonnes require a toll sticker. Quads are categorized as multi-track motor vehicles and therefore require a car vignette. Please note that, despite a valid vignette, you may need to pay an extra digital section toll if you want to cross certain tunnels and mountain passes.
Vignette obligation for all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes permissible total weight. Vignette exemption for trailers
Trailers
Trailers do not require a vignette on Austrian motorways. Only the towing vehicle requires a vignette, as long as it does not exceed the permissible total weight of 3.5 tonnes.
Campervans
Campervans that do not exceed the permissible total weight of 3.5 tonnes require a vignette. Campervans over 3.5 tonnes must pay a route-based toll and be equipped with the Go-Box for campervans.
Austria vignette has the following validity period options:
- 1-day: Vignette validity is for 1 calendar day
- 10-day: Vignette validity is for 10 calendar days from the start date
- 2 Months: Vignette validity is for 2 months from the start date
- Calendar Year: Vignette validity is for a maximum of 14 months, with a limit of up to January 31 of the following year.

When driving in Austria, in addition to having a valid vignette, it is mandatory to carry the following items in your vehicle:
Warning Triangle: Essential for use in case of a breakdown or roadside emergency, to alert other drivers.
Safety Vest: Required for personal safety, especially in low-visibility situations or when stopped on the roadside.
First-Aid Box or Bag: Important for providing basic medical assistance in case of minor injuries or emergencies.
Possessing these specific items in your vehicle while driving in Austria is not merely a matter of legal compliance, but it is also fundamentally important for ensuring safety and preparedness. Their presence significantly contributes to both the personal safety of the occupants and the overall safety of Austrian roads.
Please note that once your order for an Austria digital vignette has been processed, it cannot be refunded. This policy underscores the importance of ensuring all details are correct before finalizing your digital vignette purchase.
